Sisterhood

January 2023/February 2023

Hi all

I am writing this from Boca Raton, where we are spending three months. It is a little cool here now but that is a relative term, and I know it will warm up.

The paid-up membership event was held on Monday, November 14th, on Zoom. Our former Rebbetzin Lauren Abraham taught us how to make Jaime Geller’s Chocolate babka in a bag. It was wonderful baking along with her and catching up on each other’s lives. We also shared some of our family Thanksgiving traditions and recipes.

We were delighted to join many of the younger families in the Lots of Latke’s celebration recently. Sisterhood members helped with the cooking and craft activities. Many thanks to Sherry Glickman, Randi Shebitz, Sharon Mitchel, Geri Bloch and Roberta Seitzman. Men’s Club members also came out to help and we thank Paul Bloch, Larry Kintisch, Mark Irgang, Joe Zweig and Michael Berkowitz.

On Sunday morning, January 15th, we will be honored to have Rabbi David Berkman from New City Jewish Center. He will be giving a talk and presentation on the artist Marc Chagall. Rabbi Berkman is an expert on this very famous artist. We hope to be having an in-person bagel and lox breakfast at 10 am. We invite the Men’s Club to join us as well. Watch for further information, as RSVPs will be important.

Rabbi David Berkman's somewhat unconventional path to the Rabbinate began at the School of Art Institute in Chicago, where he received his BFA. Working primarily with interactive sound, sculpture and performance art, his work frequently carried political undertones and social commentary. Holocaust imagery also, played an important role in his personal vision and found expression in many of his "live" pieces as well as in prints, drawings and poetry. Rabbi

Berkman combines his passion for teaching Judaism with his love of art. His Multi-media lecture is entitled Marc Chagall; The Color of Midrash.

And believe it or not, Purim is “around the corner.“ We will be packaging Mishloach Manot on Sunday morning, February 26. Please watch for further information on this as we hope many of you will volunteer in this important mitzvah.

Wishing all a very Happy & Healthy 2023. I hope it is filled with peace, love, and good health.

B’Shalom,
