Social Life
People in the CSI community genuinely enjoy spending time together outside the sanctuary or Hebrew School. We host various time-honored (and newer) social events as an excuse to get together, whether for meaningful holiday experiences or just some good old-fashioned fun.

Every Saturday afternoon following services at around 11:30am, we gather as a community to share a delicious, kosher homemade lunch. All are welcome for no cost! When the weather is nice, children and their parents linger outside at the playground.
-
The dinner club is a beautiful way to celebrate Shabbat with old CSI friends and a great way to make new ones. There are three cycles during the year. You will be invited to someone else’s home twice and asked to host once.
-
Our Sisterhood offers a robust year-round program of interesting lectures, pool parties, dinners and much more!
-
Mah Jongg is having a big cultural moment! Our programming committee and Sisterhood members offer lessons throughout the year, game nights, and a twice-annual Mah Jongg tournament.
The tournaments take place each May and November. Players from all over the county descend on CSI for a raucous full day of play, prizes, and delicious food!

This club for members aged 55+ gathers for hiking, dinners and other social activities.
-
Our Freebirds cohort comprises the adult ‘tweens’ of CSI: they’re in their 50s-60s, typically not yet retired, may have children who have aged out of Hebrew school… but these members are not quite in the grandparent demographic.
-
The Retired Old Men Who Eat Out gather one Monday afternoon per month for lunch at a different restaurant somewhere in the county.
-
After summer comes to an end, we gather for a communal, homemade Friday night dinner to catch up with one another and welcome all of the members who have joined our kehilah since last year’s dinner
-
We learn about Sukkot with our children and eat pizza in the Sukkah.
-
We head to Art Cafe for a night of matzah brei and the chance to eat out during Passover!
-
During Hanukkah, we have a big event where we have children’s activities and eat Hanukkah delicacies.
-
The entire community gathers together to celebrate Purim with carnival games, raffles, prizes, face painting, and so much more!
-
Every Spring we get all dressed up for a fancy evening of dinner and dancing to live music as we honor various members of our community.
-
On Simchat Torah, we begin with a family program and meal to celebrate our sacred texts with live Klezmer music, candy and dancing!
-
Item Participate in the mitzvah of burning hametz (bread) before Passover begins. We have an antique fire truck and fire safety mascot Sparky for our youngest participants.
-
An end-of-year BBQ that celebrates the holiday of Lag B’Omer and the end of school.
-
On a Friday night in July, when Shabbat starts late, we host a picnic-style BBQ dinner before Shabbat starts, followed by an outdoor musical Friday night service
